Hey Everyone, Well I got the binding on, so thought I would shoot a few pictures. I am feeling like this guitar will turn out to be a keeper. Ziricote from Bob C., and Caucasian spruce top from Steve at Colonial. Jeff |

Great job Jeff! That is some serious zoot! Is that curly maple for the bindings? |

Jeff, looking great! If I may be so bold as to offer some constructive (hopefully) criticism... The tail wedge bothers me. Why not do it in the same wood as the binding? I think you'll have a much more "professional" looking guitar if you don't route through the tail wedge and run the purfling across the top but rather stop and miter it with the purfling of the wedge. For me personally, as a builder that knows how much work it takes to get really good at this task, I would take much more serriously a guitar with this type of appointments. My $.02 worth. Do with it what you want. Paul |

Beautiful Jeff. How was that wood to bend? |

Jeff, the top looks like it has bearclaw out the wazoo. Is that true? And if so, is that fairly common in Caucasian? And the Zootman has shown again that he well deserves his name! |

Thanks Everyone. Dave, it is curly maple binding, with a b/w/b purf line on the side. Bruce, I will use a nitro finish on it. Paul, sorry the wedge bothers you. Guitar is going to a family member, and they requested ebony tail wedge and headstock overlay, and maple binding. I did what I could to make that happen. "Proffessional" and "serious" denote different things to different folks. Thanks for the input. Steve, I emailed Steve at Colonial and asked if he had any bearclaw tops. He took the time to look through his stock and sent me that beauty. Not sure if that is common in Caucasian, but this one is gorgeous. Jeff |
